Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University Ajmer, established on August 1, 1987, is a renowned affiliating university in the state of Rajasthan, India. It was formed after the bifurcation of the University of Rajasthan, with the aim of becoming a university for colleges. In addition to its affiliating role, the university was also tasked with supporting teaching and research in its affiliated colleges.
To meet the requirements of the University Grants Commission (UGC), teaching departments were established on the campus in March 1990. The introduction of teaching programs commenced during the academic session of 1991-92, offering non-conventional and professional postgraduate courses. Subsequently, in the year 2000, the university began offering conventional postgraduate programs on its campus, specializing in fields that were not available in the colleges of Ajmer.
Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University Ajmer is named after the renowned philosopher Maharshi Dayananda Saraswati.
