The National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur (NIT Jamshedpur or NITJSR) is an esteemed institute of national importance for technical education located in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India. Established on 15 August 1960 as a Regional Institute of Technology, it was later upgraded to the status of a Deemed University and became a National Institute of Technology (NIT) on 27 December 2002. As one of the 31 NITs in India, NIT Jamshedpur is directly under the control of the Ministry of Education (MHRD).
NIT Jamshedpur holds a significant place in the history of technical education in India.
